Vom 22. bis 25. Juli 2026 verwandelt sich der Obst- und Gemüsestand FRIESER in der Frankfurter Kleinmarkthalle in einen temporären Ausstellungsraum für zeitgenössische Kunst. Unter dem Titel „Fruits of the Market“ präsentieren 21 internationale Künstlerinnen und Künstler Malerei, Skulptur, Fotografie, Keramik und installative Arbeiten inmitten des alltäglichen Marktgeschehens.

Die bestehende Infrastruktur des Marktstands bleibt erhalten: Regale, Kisten und Auslagen werden zu Präsentationsflächen für Kunstwerke, die sich mit Themen wie Nahrung, Produktion, Konsum, Materialität und Wahrnehmung auseinandersetzen. Wo sonst Obst und Gemüse verkauft werden, treten Kunstwerke an die Stelle der Waren und eröffnen neue Perspektiven auf einen vertrauten Ort.

Der Titel „Fruits of the Market“ verweist sowohl auf die Produkte des Marktes als auch auf die Ergebnisse künstlerischer Produktion. Die Ausstellung nutzt diese doppelte Bedeutung, um den Marktstand für kurze Zeit in einen Ort künstlerischer Auseinandersetzung zu verwandeln.

Fruits of the Market versteht sich als künstlerische Intervention im öffentlichen Raum. Mitten in der Frankfurter Innenstadt entsteht für vier Tage ein Ort der Begegnung, der Kunst außerhalb klassischer Institutionen erfahrbar macht – unmittelbar, überraschend und ohne Eintrittsschwelle.

From 22–25 July 2026, the FRIESER fruit and vegetable stall at Frankfurt's Kleinmarkthalle will be transformed into a temporary exhibition space for contemporary art. Under the title Fruits of the Market, 21 international artists present paintings, sculptures, photography, ceramics, and installation works within the everyday setting of the historic market hall.

The original structure of the market stall remains intact: shelves, crates, and display stands become platforms for artworks exploring themes of food, production, consumption, materiality, and perception. Where fruit and vegetables are normally sold, works of art temporarily replace everyday goods, inviting visitors to experience this familiar setting from a new perspective.

The title Fruits of the Market refers both to the produce of the marketplace and to the outcomes of artistic production. Drawing on this dual meaning, the exhibition transforms the market stall into a temporary site for artistic inquiry and exchange.

Fruits of the Market is conceived as an artistic intervention in the public realm. For four days, it creates a place of encounter in the heart of Frankfurt, bringing contemporary art beyond the boundaries of traditional institutions and into everyday life—open, unexpected, and free to all.
